I have VERY acne-prone and extremely oily skin. I have used a lot of facial products for my pimples and acne but none of them worked. I tried using other home remedies like toothpaste, etc., but they don’t help as well. Any other suggestions?

You should try proactive. Home remedies aren’t going to help much, but make sure you drink 8 servings a day for water. The best way to good skin is starting from the inside.

add half teaspoon fresh lime juice to 2 tablespoons of yogurt.
apply as a face mask and when dry wash.
lime acts as a astringent, removing the oils, yogurt tends to smoothen your skin.

Try a face mask. Any kind, something that will dry out your skin. I have also tried other products and nothing worked until I started using face masks like once a week. Your a guy so it may seem weird for you, but you could always just dabb the mask onto your acne instead of putting it all over your face and feeling feminine. lol, and I’m not sure if you’ve tried pro-active but it actually does work. If this doesn’t work, then you should see a dermatologist, they’ll put you on a prescription for something.

Perla. It’s this laundry soap that they say is effective available in the Philippines. If it really is worse already, maybe you need to consult a dermatologist. That is what I am doing now, and my face is starting to clear up, but it is quite expensive. Applying different products might just make your face worse than it already is and may add problems than what you already have. Be careful in trying things you are not sure of.

Several options:
Did you know that a calcium deficiency can cause acne, and even ADD?
Also taking 15mg of zinc every day boosts your immune system and helps clear up acne?
Proactive products are expensive, but you can achieve the same results by cleaning your face 1-2 times daily with hydrogen peroxide. I have my adolescent son doing this and it is working very well.
Good luck.

Oral medications, which is an easy method with minimal risks and side-effects. This type of treatment is usually used with severe cases of acne.
Many people who have tried them will tell you that remedies which are all natural are the best ways to clear the skin for good, or at least treat. Common household foods that have been proven to cure acne are oranges, cucumbers, and pears. Orange peel on the areas of your skin that have been affected by acne can really help. It’s also very important to drink plenty of water everyday, at least eight glasses is recommended by most doctors, as well as a balanced diet filled with lots of protein including fruits and vegetables.
Two types of effective acne treatments are both natural and what is called “Allopathic”. Allopathic is basically common types of acne removal products that you can pick up at the store that take anywhere from four to six weeks to see results from. An antibacterial herb known as “Turmeric” is also a great way to prevent breakouts. Years and years ago it used to be commonly used by just about everyone because of its extreme medical importance. Today it is still used as a way to combat acne for those who haven’t found much help in mainstream methods.

Years ago I went to a dermatologist. He recommend washing my face twice daily with powdered Boraxo, a soap I dont see much anymore.
He said I should use my own hands, not a wash cloth.
It worked.

a mild soap (Dove, Camay, Jergens) and water. Rinse off, do not scrub. And do not overdo it — once or twice a day is fine.

hi, acne is a really horrible thing to have so i sympathise with you. finding the right treatment can be difficult as everyones acne is different. i am a qualified beauty therapist and during my training i trained with dermalogica which you may or may not be familiar with. unfortunatly its not exactly cheap but its very effective! my friend had very bad, sore and irritated acne she used dermalogica in her daily skin routine (cleanser, toner etc) and her skin is now clear! it took around a month to completly go but now her skin looks great. the main reason dermalogic is so good as it uses completly natural ingriedients nothing to make it smells nice etc as they just irritate the skin. because dermalogica is a trade product (only professionals can buy from shops) you will have to go and order it online but its worth it as it works! good look!

Try this simple remedy. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne like soap. The secret of keeping the skin clear is to keep it oil-free and clean. Check out for more useful info.

Try the clear skin starter kit. I have bad acne and I am using it at the moment. It seems to be making quite a big difference. It is better than the things that the doctor has prescribed for me. Good Luck.

You have had some good advice. I would like to add 2 things.
1. Cut your hair short in a style off your face. Shampoo everyday. Go easy on conditioner, too.
2. Change your pillow cases daily…EVERY DAY !!! It will be worth it to buy 2 or 3 extra sets of pillow cases.
These 2 things will improve your chances of having other remedies work.

i have oily skin also, and to make it worst i live in Arizona so the heat makes it 10x worst! the only thing that helps my skin is Philosophy’s Acne kit, i use there “On a Clear Day” blemish serum & super wash for oily skin, i also use there “Hope in a Bottle” face lotion. I use there oxgen peel once a week and it keeps my skin from breaking out, i have used proactive, murad, clearasil etc and had the same problem..my blemish would go away but would leave me with super dry/flakey patches of skin..so i would but more mositizer on and then break out again..it was a never ending cycle. I finally bought Philosophy’s Acne kit & there Makeup Optional kit 4 congested skin, and i love my skin
its pricey but the kits lasted for months and now i know what products work best for me so i just buy what i need instead of the kits.
