Don’t pick, squeeze, pop, push, press or otherwise manipulate your pimples in any way. Doing this can not only increase the risk of spreading bacteria, but it can also cause you to have permanent scarring. There are a number of healthy things you can do to fight acne and pimples instead.

1. Try over the counter acne products that contain benzoyl peroxide up to twice a day. This will help decrease the amount of bacteria. Benzoyl peroxide comes in different concentrations. You should start out with lower concentrations to reduce drying of the skin. If necessary, you can move to higher concentrations later. Use a moisturizer for acne to keep skin hydrated.

2. Wash your face once or twice per day, using a mild soap. For oily skin you should use a cleanser that contains benzoyl peroxide.

3. Have you noticed a concentration of acne on the side of your face or cheek? Change your pillow case frequently. A clean pillow case will decrease the chance of spreading bacteria.

4. Don’t use any hard brushes, sponges or cleansers on your face. It can damage your skin.

5. Avoid oil based facial products. Opt for make-up that is water based. Certain make-ups even have oil absorbing qualities. The ones with sunscreen will also help protect your skin.

6. If you use a concealer, buy one that contains acne fighting ingredients.

7. Try not to touch your face with your hands. This can encourage the spread of bacteria.

8. Drink plenty of water and eat a healthy balanced diet. Pay attention to see if certain foods cause breakouts.

9. Vitamins A, C and E as well as Iron work well in fighting acne and can be purchased at your local drug store. Vitamin E can also help repair scarring, either by taking it orally or applying it directly to the affected area.

10. If you take birth control, ask your doctor to prescribe one that helps deter acne.

11. Honey has a natural antimicrobial action and has been used to fight acne for a long time. Try a honey mask!

12. Moderate exercise will help blood flow and the elimination of toxins.

13. Spend some time outside. Vitamin D from the sun helps reduce acne. Just don’t over do it. You don’t want to get sun burn.

14. Reduce stress that can cause acne flair ups. Spend time with friends, exercise, take a walk in the park, listen to music or take a yoga class.

There are no magic solutions to get rid of acne, but eating right, drinking plenty of water, reducing stress and using proper skin care will help a lot.

1. Home Treatment For Acne

If you notice that you have some innocent looking bumps on your face, it could be the begining of acne. From the moment you notice the bumps you should be very particular to keep the area very clean and free from oil and grease.. This can be achieved by washing the affected area frequently like thrice a day with a mild skin cleaner that must NOT be perfumed. Harsh soaps and cleaners will leave the face completely free from oils that is also not recommended.

After cleaning your face pat the skin dry taking care never to rub the skin with a towel or tissue. Rubbing the affected area will only cause redness and irritation. A good home cleansing routine should be carried out thrice a day with benzoil peroxide. A generous amount of the cleaning agent on the tip of the finger can be applied on some areas of the face. After dabbing the cleanser on the face it can be spread gently to cover the entire face. Moisturizer can be applied about fifteen minutes later without ever washing the benzoyl peroxide of the face.

Some more points to take note of

• No matter how tempting the feeling of a good squeeze might be, never squeeze an acne pimple. Do not even scratch it.

• As a rule never touch an acne affected area of your skin. If you have to touch the pimples, do so with a tissue not even with a hankerchief.

Acne treatment is known to take millions of years, so have you should be prepared to spend a few patient weeks or a couple of months at least. Patience, patie, patience.

2. Acne Treatment – Orally

Oral acne treatment is another effective way to cure acne. This treatment requires te patient swallow tiny medicated pills that hopefully will resolve the issue. However, these pills may have to be changed frequently in order for the skin specialist to decide which is te best combination of antibiotics for the treatment of acne. This treatment varies from person to person. Contraceptive pills have been known to treat acne in women and very effectively too. A certain pill known as Diane has a certain ingredient ‘cyproterone acetate’ that is known to clear acne effectively.

To Pop or not to Pop – the Great Pimple Question

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011
Are you supposed to pop a pimple, or leave it alone? We get so many conflicting messages how are we supposed to know which one is true? I have heard it was best for acne to leave it alone until it is at a head to minimize blood vessel damage from popping. That is not an acne remedy, it just minimizes scarring.and I am not sure if it is even true.

I have heard if you pick at a pimple you will get a scar. This is true. I have many permanent scars now because i just couldn’t leave them alone. How do you stop acne or cure back acne, and forehead acne? It is so hard not to pop a pimple when it is full; it is so tender and painful. Since popping isn’t good, what treatment is best to prevent acne?

There are many old wives tales for acne remedies such as; Use a warm compress before you pop it, but there, see again, it is about popping instead of letting it fester. Or put a salt paste on it to dry it out, so now not only do you have pimples, but you are covered in salt. I have also heard of people using butter, I have no idea why though, my skin is oily enough. You can use benzoyl peroxide, or witch hazel, some people even use rubbing alcohol, but it tends to dry out the skin kicking your oil glands into overdrive.

From what I can gather, if you pop a zit you run the chance of scarring. If you leave it alone you will have a giant pimple of your face. It does not sound like a winning situation either way. I think the best acne advice would be to find a prevention method that works so you don’t have to worry about popping in the first place.
