Cystic acne appears mostly because the oil ducts get clogged and it creates an abscess. The biggest mistake people make is to popping and squeezing the zits. This creates scars which are more difficult to get rid of.

The most commonly used drug for severe acne is Isotretinoin. This help treat the clogged pore inflammation, excess of oil produced and the acne appearance. For women, a great treatment for cystic acne is taking the contraceptive pill. This will help balance your hormone level in your body and help reduce the production of sebaceous glands in your body. The downside effect is gaining weight during treatment.

There are lots of home remedies for cystic acne out there, and the most common ones are using a mango paste for your face, using lemon juice mixed with water o the inflammation areas, putting over your face a paste made from neem leaves with turmeric for 30 minutes, applying some groundnut oil or lavender oil on the affected areas, etc.

Other good things to followed is to wash your face at least twice daily with a cleanser special made for acne ski condition. This contains 5% benzyl peroxide which helps clear the bacteria.

Keeping a way from foods like chocolate, junk foods, sugar, oily foods will diminish your cystic acne condition rapidly. The diet that we eat influence heavily the quality on which some glands work and our skin appearance.

acne treatment
Acne is not only embarrassing and unattractive but if severe enough it can hinder social interaction, even result in depression. Acne doesn’t happen overnight and thus it must be treated systematically and with patience for long term results but regardless is what approach you take - topical or internal treatment you may have to try and number of different treatments to find one that will work for you.

Understanding Your Skin Type

Because everyone has a little different type of body chemistry and skin type acne treatment cannot take a one size fits all approach. As a result, before implementing any acne treatment it’s important to understand your skin type in order to achieve the results you desire.

Types of Skin

In a nutshell, there are basically three types of skin: oily, dry and normal. However, what makes acne so difficult to treat for some is that they have a mixture of all three skin types on different parts of their face. For example, they may have an oily nose, a dry forehead and fairly normal skin on the rest of your face. Once you have determined your skin type you can start an acne treatment and skin care. If you don’t feel comfortable in determining your own skin type you may want to consult a dermatologist who will be able to properly diagnose your skin issues and recommend a plan of action for correcting it.

Skin Care

Caring for your skin should is a daily process because it’s exposed to a continuous bombardment of the elements like wind, temperature extremes and air quality issues - both indoor and out.

Skin care is an essential step in properly treating acne on a long term basis because properly maintained skin and proper acne treatment go hand in hand. For example, both require keeping the skin clean and properly hydrated and both require proper nutrition because many skin issues are caused from poor nutrition. Impurities from poor nutrition are then eliminated from the body through the skin and drinking plenty of good, fluoride free water (distilled water is the purest form of water) to assist your body in properly eliminating toxins is essential. Drinking soda or coffee or other fluids is not a substitute for water.

Once your acne clears you must continue the skin care and nutrition habits that resulted in your improved complexion or you’ll find yourself - regardless of age back to having problems with your skin.

Acne treatment and skin care are a necessary process of your daily routine in order to keep your skin clear from acne and from the early signs of aging but it’s also necessary if you want to maintain your youthful appearance for as long as possible. Acne cannot be cured from the outside but it can be from the inside and therefore if you don’t change your lifestyle and eating habits it can and most likely will continue to reoccur throughout your lifetime.

There are acne treatment centers throughout the country should you so chose to take that direction in treating your acne but like a form of medical care it makes sense to get more than one opinion and then decide which one fits your particular situation - good luck.

Ayurvedic view of Acne / Acne Treatment:

Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine in India. Ayurveda originated in India thousands of years ago. The most known ancient literacy work known as the “Vedas” gives the historical evidence of wisdom of Ayurveda. Ayurveda explains hundred of diseases along with their causes, symptoms and remedies on lines of Dosha Theory. Ayurveda cited lifestyle adjustments for each disease, which plays an important role in curing the diseases.

Ayurveda works on the “Theory of Tridosha.” According to which, the three doshas or energetic forces in the form of tissues, control all activities of the body. The three doshas are:

• Vata ( “Vayu” in Hindi, “Wind” in English)

• Pitta (Fire)

• Kapha (provides the lubrication in the body egmucous lining of the stomach)

In ayurvedic terminology we call acne as “Youvana Pitikas”, meaning breakouts of youth. Ayurveda has also explained causes and treatments of acne.

Cause of Acne

According to ayurveda there are two main doshas (causes) responsible for acne and pimples:

• Kapha

• Vata

• Rakta dhatu (blood)

Unhealthy diet and lifestyles defect Vata, which in turn affects two doshas, Kapha and Pitta, to get provoked. Motivated Pitta affects Rakta dhatu or blood.

The defective blood causes excess secretion of oil from sebaceous glands. Kapha which already has oily property is forced to impart the stickiness to the blood. As a result thick sebaceous blocks are formed in skin pores and hair follicles which in turn results in acne.

Treatment of Acne in Ayurveda

Healthy and clean skin is the first line of defense against any infection. Ayurveda has suggested many acne skin treatments to protect skin from pimples, acne, dark circles, wrinkles and acne scars and to make the skin amazingly smooth and healthy.

According to Ayurveda, acne free face can be achieved by actively working on the following plans.

1. By adopting the modified diet and life styles to balance doshas.

2. Massaging face regularly with the herbal oil containing madhuka, laaksha, matulunga, etc.

3. Applying a face pack containing masoora, kushta, kaaliyaka etc after every massage.

Ayurveda claims that following the above procedures for seven days helps achieve a face free from pimples, acne and its scars, and dark circles.
